1. Influenza A Virus

A highly contagious acute respiratory virus, the most common and predominant type of influenza virus. It can cause large-scale epidemics with symptoms including high fever, rhinitis, pharyngitis, and later development of bronchitis and pneumonia.

2. Novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2)

The coronavirus that causes COVID-19. There are six known coronaviruses that can infect humans. SARS-CoV-2, one of these, causes severe respiratory illness and has a highly diverse genome with the ability to recombine.

3. Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)

A very common infectious virus that primarily presents as upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., cough, fever) in older children and adults. It can cause severe lower respiratory tract infections in infants and young children and is a major cause of pneumonia and bronchitis in infants.

4. Adenovirus

A globally distributed virus that is a common cause of diarrhea in children (second only to rotavirus). Although it is more common in children under two years of age, it can infect all ages. It can also cause respiratory illness.

5. Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP)

The smallest known free-living pathogen, it is a common cause of community-acquired pneumonia. Its underlying pathology is interstitial pneumonia, primarily transmitted via droplet infection, with an incubation period of 2-3 weeks. Its P1 membrane protein is the primary adhesion protein, a key pathogenic factor, and a target of the immune response.

This test is an immunoassay rapid test for the rapid detection of influenza A, novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), adenovirus, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) antigens. It is designed to assist in the rapid identification and diagnosis of these respiratory pathogens. Samples are collected from throat swabs.
